Excellent Chief Letter

Cousins,

It’s a great personal honor for me to be elected as Excellent Chief of Trinity Council. I first became an officer ten years ago and due to work engagements had to leave the line more than once. This and other circumstances have coalesced to bring me to preside over this august body in the 2021 year and I couldn’t be happier. During my twelve year membership in the order, my affection for Knight Masonry and you my dear Cousins has only grown in intensity.

We bring the opportunity of Masonic growth and excellence through the presentation, execution, and application of the Irish Masonic Degrees. We, being the premier and only Council in the state, serve all of the Masons of Upper and Lower Peninsulas of the Jurisdiction of Michigan. With this mind, you will notice that our year will look somewhat different than previous years.

Our focus will be on learning and performing our beautiful degrees of Knight Masonry and creating opportunities for fellowship and education for members of the appendant York Rite across the State. We will look for suitable and eager prospects in the Upper Peninsula, Lansing, Tri-cities, and Grand Rapids and invite them to our fold and offer these companions more light in Masonry and knowledge of the continuing saga of the Solomonic Mysteries. I firmly believe that Knight Masonry should not be reserved for a chosen few, but offered as a shining beacon to all Capitular Masons. We as leaders in Irish Masonry will shine this beacon in all the corners of our Jurisdiction and make convenient opportunities for Royal Arch Masons to join our fellowship and study our ritual.

Unfortunately, due to the worldwide COVID 19 Pandemic, our year looks a little different than usual. For a second year in a row, the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day parade has been cancelled. We all know that participating has been a time honoured tradition of our Council. I being one who has marched every year since Cousin Mullins, PEC brought us this opportunity, am very eager to join in fellowship with our brethren of the United Irish Societies and jam out with our adopted band of talented teenage musicians, the Lakeshoremen. We’ll have to be flexible, to ensure the safe participation of all members.

I look forward to working with you all for a successful year, no matter what obstacles we may have to overcome.

Yours in Irish Masonry,

Corey FGL Curtiss
Excellent Chief
