Grand Superintendent Letter 3
Sir Knights & Cousins,
Happy St. Mullins Day. Today is the feast day of St. Moling Luachra, the 7th century Bishop of Ferns, and one of the four great prophets of Erin, who like St. Patrick, is better known by his anglicized name, St. Mullins. On account of his name, I visited his eponymous village, holy well, and monastic site in Ireland a few years ago, and from the clear waters and quiet serenity of his holy well, to St. Gobban Saer’s enduring craftmanship in the construction of his monastery, it was a pilgrimage I won’t soon forget.
Speaking of pilgrimages, the next item on my agenda as Grand Superintendent is to have my official visit to each of Michigan’s councils, and in preparation for those visits I’d like your officers to review the Grand Superintendent Visitation report and Honor Council Award forms available at km-mi.org/forms. These forms will cover the items I intend to go over during my visit and give you an opportunity to prepare. Knight Masons have no formal reception of Grand Officers, but only a salute of honor of 9 & 2, given at an appropriate time, in a fashion similar to those of other masonic bodies.
In addition, I’d like to remind everyone that on Wednesday, September 17th the Knight Masons along with the other member organizations of the United Irish Societies are headed out to Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers Irish Heritage Night. Prior to the game we will parade around the field representing our organizations and have pictures of our organizations up on the new scoreboard. Families are welcome to join us, and it should be a great day of fellowship and an opportunity to interact with the broader Irish fraternal community.
Please order your tickets on our website at km-mi.org/trinity/store by August 17th. Each ticket includes one Mezzanine Ticket seated alongside your fellow Knight Masons and other UIS groups, one 2025 Tiger’s Irish Jersey (while supplies last), and a $5 Donation to the United Irish Societies.
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone for an amazing Michigan Knight Masons Statewide Assembly & Trinity Sunday Observance. I think what impressed me most was just everyone's attitude. You could tell that everyone in the room was there to give the candidates a good experience and to enjoy one another's fellowship. It's such a simple thing but when everyone is dedicated to that mission, whether things are going smoothly or a problem has occurred, everything just feels like a breeze.
Ne cede malis,
