Grand Superintendent Letter 6

Sir Knights & Cousins,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter/Pascha. I think all those who attended will agree, we had a fantastic time at the 68th Annual Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade. A day that started out chilly with an uncertain forecast ended up giving us perfect weather and a wonderful time of fellowship with cousins from across the state. We shared a few libations, rode the float, and put on a good performance for the crowd, even if Arthur stole the show. I’d like to thank Brother Chuck Platter for allowing us to borrow the float yet again this year, and that valiant Sir Knight, Cousin Mike Cheney, for hauling the float across Southeast Michigan and braving the streets of Corktown as he pulled us along.

On a more somber note, Cousin Mike is currently in the hospital facing a serious health concern, and while his family has requested no contact at this time, I urge you all to keep him in your prayers.

Aside from regular meetings, our next big event is Trinity Council’s Inaugural Donnybrook Social. Rooted in the longstanding traditions of Irish pub culture, we’ll enjoy a fun afternoon of lively conversation, great libations, and good company. Masons and non-Masons alike are welcome to attend. The event is being held on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 1pm at Royal Oak’s Duggan’s Irish Pub.

May also brings a unique and historic opportunity. We have been requested as Knight Masons to assist the Grand Commandery of Michigan in providing an honor guard at the 200th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Michigan. If you can assist and have not already committed to participating in the honor guard as a member of Commandery please reach out to me. Right Worshipful Brother Mike Roberts is a long-time Knight Mason, and we want to show him our support.

I addressed our Annual Michigan Knight Masons Statewide Assembly & Trinity Sunday Observance in my previous letter, but of course it is our biggest event of the year, so I’d like to just remind every council to send me their cast and candidate list as soon as it is available so we may fill any gaps in the cast and make sure candidates have everything they need. This year’s Assembly is being held at the Lansing Masonic Temple on Saturday, June 6, at 10am. Following the degrees, we will conclude our Trinity Sunday observance with a traditional Irish festive board at Acapulco Mexican Grill.

With a Donnybrook, Grand Lodge, and our Statewide ahead of us, we certainly have no lack of activity to prepare for, so I’ll end my letter the same way I ended the last one, see you at the pub.
