Grand Superintendent Letter 5

Sir Knights & Cousins,

It was my pleasure to be retained as the Grand Superintendent of Michigan at the Sixtieth Annual Meeting of the Grand Council of Knight Masons, USA held in Arlington, Virginia at Masonic Week earlier this month. It was wonderful to meet with cousins across the country, and Masonic Week continues to be an event I look forward to year after year.

Congratulations to our newest Great Chief, Most Excellent Sir Knight, Russell Bridges, and all the Grand Officers installed at Masonic Week. Among the newly installed officers is Right Excellent Sir Knight, Brandon Penley, our new Grand Scribe. You can reach out to him via mail at P.O. Box 508, Claremont, NC 28620 and via email at grandscribekmusa@gmail.com.

Our Annual Michigan Knight Masons Statewide Assembly & Trinity Sunday Observance will be held in Lansing on Saturday, June 6th, where we will confer all three Knight Mason degrees with each council in the state being responsible for one of them. Like in years past the degrees are broken down as follows:

  • Trinity Council No. 36: Knight of the Sword

  • St. Gobban Saer Council No. 130: Knight of the East

  • Tully Cross Council No. 131: Knight of the East & West

In order to facilitate coordination, I would appreciate it if each council could send me its cast for its respective degree as soon as possible so we can put together a master cast list and fill any potential holes. In addition, I would like a candidate list as soon as it’s available as well. As in years past a dinner will follow and perhaps a few surprises, so keep on the lookout for more information.

And of course, before that, on Sunday, March 15th, we have the 68th Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade. This year's theme is: Detroit Irish: Celebrating Irish Culture and Traditions, and I’m sure we can show off a few traditions of our own. We are working on getting a float together this year, and I will send out parade orders as soon as they are available. Remember that participation in the Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade is open to all Masons and their families.

Lastly, I am inviting all Michigan Knight Masons to the LepreCon Pub Crawl being held on Saturday, February 28th at 7pm, beginning at Brooklyn Detroit. Tickets are $30 and proceeds support the Detroit St. Patrick’s Parade. You can find ticket information on the Michigan Knight Masons website calendar. See you at the pub.

Ne cede malis,
